Description: The film Crash illustrates through various character types many topics that are sociologically relevant and get intensely covered in study course lectures and readings. The film offers an assortment of conflict in four personas especially which will be discussed right here. “Anthony” and “Peter Waters” two African-American men, “Farhad” a Local shop owner, and “Officer John Ryan” a white-colored prejudiced cop all display interesting attributes of the theories mentioned above. Evaluation: Anthony and Peter both equally commit felony acts and fit very well into the innovation as part of deviance model. They cannot believe that they can conform and don’t see additional opportunities inside the largely light areas through which they take cars, admitting that they desire to steal via whites, because they perceive white wines to have advantage and violence toward all of them.
Peter is shot while Anthony tries to receive himself by simply helping one more minority group, who he sees to get exploited because of their minority position. Officer Jones is a prejudiced policeman, who have feels the trickle straight down effect of stress theory. Due to the loss of his father’s task due to endorsement action guidelines and the future issues with him receiving inappropriate healthcare, this kind of officer becomes his disappointment to blacks as a whole as a result of strain of his father’s condition.
Finally, Farhad displays the patterns of lodging, as he attempts to absorb to the United States, he distrusts others in the different minority groups and feels the shame to be called a terrorist. He retaliates by attempting to kill a Mexican-American, as his standard of conflict with other groups is extremely high. Self-reflection: This film is very effective in showing how theories could be applied to real events that occur in the lives of minorities and the ones with white colored privilege. The complex interactions between the different groups highlight much of what conflict theory proposes and elements of strength functionalism, as well.
I would recommend this film to any sociology student or others, who have an interest in how organizations in culture function and deal with one another on a daily basis.
