Bienvenido Lumbera received his Litt. N. and Meters. A. deg from the University or college of Santo Tomas in 1950.
Ph. D. in Relative Literature coming from Indiana University or college in 1968.
Academe:
Bienvenido Lumbera taught Literary works, Philippine Research and Creative Writing with the Ateneo sobre Manila University or college, De La Salle University, the University in the Philippine Diliman, and the University or college of Onomástica Tomas.
Bienvenido Lumbera was also equiped visiting professor of Filipino Studies at Osaka School of Overseas Studies in Japan from 1985 to 1988 plus the very first Asian Scholar in Residence with the University of Hawaii by Manoa.

In such ways, Bienvenido Lumbera contributed to the downfall of Marcos although he was in Japan through the 1986 Edsa uprising, instructing at the Osaka University of Foreign Research.
Bienvenido Lumbera is usually the founding and current chairperson in the Board of Trustees from the multi-awarded press group Kodao Productions and a member in the Concerned Artists of the Thailand and the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan.
Literary Reputation:
Bienvenido Lumbera is now widely admit as one of the pillars of contemporary Filipino Literature, Social Studies and Film, having written and edited many books on literary history, literary criticism and film.
Bienvenido Lumbera also received several awards citing his contribution to Philippine Letters, most notably the 1975 Enchufe Award to get Literature; the 1993 Magsaysay Award to get Journalism Materials, and Creative Communication Artistry; several Countrywide Book Awards from the Manila Critics Circle; the 98 Philippine Centennial Literary Prize for Drama; and the 1999 Cultural Centre of the Korea Centennial Elevates for the Arts.
Bienvenido Lumbera is currently the editor of sanghaya (National Commission in Culture plus the Arts), Teacher at the Division of The english language in the College of Humanities of the Accademia de Manila University, Senior Professor at the Department of Filipino and Philippine Literary works, College of Arts and Letters, University or college of the Thailand Diliman, and Professor of Literature for De La Salle University.
For a time, Bienvenido Lumbera also dished up as Chief executive of the Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT), a Nationwide Organization greater than 40, 1000 teachers and employees in the education sector.
