Democracy in Ancient Greece

Eddie Witten

The Greeks were extremely advanced because of their time. That they realized that they will

need a new government plus they were able to invent the first democratic

government in the world. The democracy that the Greeks created was centered

on two important factors. The first one was the human population growth in Athens

grew at a really fast price. The second was your advocating of political, monetary

and legal equality for all those which some male residents remembered through the living

circumstances in the Dark Age ranges. The Ancient greek language system of Democracy did have got its stocks

of concerns though.

The Greek approach to democracy was ruled with a body of nine elected

officials whom were known as archons. Unichip who were aristocrats lead the

government and had supreme control of all of the verdicts and legal

accusations in Athens. Complications arose when aristocrats turn into jealous of one

another and rivalries ensued under the initial phases of Athenian democracy. The

result of this kind of jealousy was the establishment of any code authored by the hired

ruler Draco. This code of laws promoted stability and value. These regulations

however did more to hurt the democracy of Athens than to help it. It seems that

Draco wrote this code of laws in order to benefit himself rather than to benefit

the us government of Athens.

The democracy of Athens was used in lots of ways other than for what it was

made for. It was abused by many rulers of that time. They were worried

with their own personal growth and because of their greed and selfishness, they

made laws and codes that would benefit their own personal gain. The results

though never have always been while what they got expected to have been. Many of the

reduce classes had been treated extremely unfairly and rulers shed popularity to the lower

classes. Civil conflict was even about to break out at one particular point due to Dracos

rules and laws and regulations.

When city war nearly broke in Athens the codes and laws had been once

once again revamped. Now a pathway was attempted to be set down that could

accommodate both the upper as well as the lower classes. In the end 4 classes had been

developed to rank the male citizens of Athens based upon their cash flow. The five-

hundred-measure males, horsemen, yoked men, and laborers had been the four classes

that have been devised by this new approach to codes and laws.

Inside the Athenian culture both the hypotheses failed the boys, and in turn

the boys failed the theories. A number of the theories the rulers came up with

needed a whole lot of support from the guy citizens of Athens. More often than not

these theories were regarded as unfair plus the male individuals were not cooperative

with these kinds of theories. Also theories which were fair towards the citizen although not

recognized by them failed. The boys failed the theories through this sense, seeing that

they did certainly not give them an attempt and make an effort them away. They would have experienced that these

might have helped them in the long run.

Taking into consideration the outcome with the Peloponnesian Battle the Athenians fell

sufferer to internal restraints. Their own problems inside their democratic

composition caused them to lose that war. The codes and laws that they had at the

time wound up doing more damage to all of them in the long run it did to help them.

That was your major problem with the Athenians take on democracy. Simply because

developed democracy they were not able to perfect this and watch other societies

function under that. If they had some hundred more years to perfect their

democratic society that they most likely may have had far more success in the

Peloponnesian Battle and with all of their endeavors.
