Migration in America has become a topic of intense controversy through American history. People in the usa seem to constantly want to single “immigrants” out as being a bad guy per say, and the border patrol as good folks. Is it genuinely fair for making that view based just on history? I definitely not believe so. Will be certainly more to immigrants then simply there history, there’s a reason they come to America and it is not always suitable for evil. Believe it or not, after browsing The Devils Highway simply by Luis Alberto Urrea, migrants are the very good guys just asking for one other chance in life.

While the Border Patrol Officers are only wearing that uniform and taking advantage of it. Not going to an agreement, Luis Alberto Urrea’s nonfiction novel would basically enrich the debate about illegal migrants due to the reasoning’s Urrea provides us in these ramblers wanting to come to America.

In the beginning in the novel, Urrea gives us background understanding on the Demons Highway, the illegal migrants crossing the border, and information on the Border Patrol Officers.

Immigrants without having any salary at all, they must survive as well. In Mexico it was very hard to get a job, with that being said, woman with children, guys with children, families in such a case needed to survive. “Prices held raising, and everything families, mestizos, and Indian, Mexican and illegal, Simple, Catholic, or perhaps heathen could afford much less.

Food was harder to find. Families continuing to grow” (44). These types of Mexicans necessary money to survive; they required better opportunities that Mexico was not providing them. Coming to America was their just choice. Certainly not coming legally, these ramblers took an opportunity at lifestyle down the “dangerous border”(8). It had been a chance well worth taking. “Good guys”, these types of immigrants were trying to better there long term no matter what it was a little while until. Why could not the Border Patrol recognize that? The Devils Freeway was a street leading to a rude awakening, wasn’t that bad enough.

These “walkers” are humans just like all People in the usa, and like the majority of of us these types of walkers search for a better opportunity at existence. They desired to be given a similar opportunities People in the usa are given in terms of freedom, education, independence, etc . In this particular case, Mexicans should be able to include a dream and do anything fruitful with their lives because us People in america do.

Crossing the line illegally, throughout the Devils Road, these walkers knew exactly what they were strolling into just before their trip begun. The Devils Highway is also referred to as Desolation. As an empty place, desolated for example. You’re actually walking into the own loss of life by taking this kind of risk in coming to America. Being that I support against the law immigration, We also feel that not everyone comes for the same reason. Rather than, like the ramblers, coming to America for a better way of life, you will find others that come for adverse reason.

A single main concern the fact that Border Patrol comes across can be drugs being smuggled in America and our federal government will not endure that in any way. Any walker that has poor intentions and brings that non-sense throughout the border with them must not be allowed in america. Therefore going to America should be both legal verse illegal for different factors. As long as boundary patrol has been doing there jobs, they should be capable to distinguish both the, make a separation and not confuse the 2. Wait, but what exactly is definitely Border Patrol? Is it basically just patrolling the line? Is there task only to catch bad guys? Inside the Devils Highway, Urrea at times makes it appear to be Border Patrol along with the Coyotes.

As a article writer and a reader My spouse and i still question myself, can you really categorize some of the people in The Devils Highway as “good guys” or perhaps “bad guys”. The decision nonetheless remains uncertain to me. With immigration for being an intense topic of debate, I feel that types action must not determine whether they be a good or bad guy. The Border Patrol agents just simply do there job, plus the Coyotes just are a part of the walkers (immigrants). Having different people mentioned in the book, Urrea gives wonderful examples to debate the sides of good and criminals. It is just a couple of what its right and wrong, and what is intended for the people not against this.
