Posted by SujataParashar on Drive 7, 2013 in Reports · 0 Comments When ever my son was about half a dozen his classmate asked him about his religion. My son could not answer him as that was the first-time someone had asked him that problem. He would not know what his religion was. For that matter he did not understand the meaning with the word.

Yet he was interested in learning it and so after returning from School that day this individual asked me similar question: ‘what is my own religion, Mommy? ‘ Rather than replying to him right away I made him sit and asked him regarding his day at school and during our discussion gently probed why he wanted to know about it. When I learnt the exact purpose, I discussed him this is of the term in the simplest of ways and advised him that if anyone demands him about this again to tell them that; he could be an American indian. He paid attention to my description, nodded calmly and remaining it too.

I wasn’t sure if my son had realized or recognized my description. But to my surprise I actually learnt that he had registered it well. And even now when he has learnt through his text message books that India is a multi – cultural, multiple – typically, lingual and a multi – religious region and that most of his close friends belong to different communities and follow several religions, when he have been asked by anyone regarding it, he provides sincerely up to date them that he is an Indian. I actually share the above personal experience just to focus on that the understanding and attitudes of our children (and youth) play an essential role in shaping the future of the country.

It is vital that from a new age they will learn and imbibe the “unity in diversity” nature — which can be the fact of our region. In fact , our history is replete with examples wherever so many of the Kings, Emperors and even the invaders and colonial rulers divided us in the name of faith based and public differences. On the other hand, we also provide countless examples of great nobleman who continued to be secular inside their views and actions through their lives and consequently the prospered beneath their regulation. In fact , India has always been a land of spirituality in which the beliefs and faiths of people from distinct casts and communities have already been respected and flourished.

Nonetheless it is also a rustic which has been through transformation repeatedly; from dynastic rule with the kings, emperors to imperialiste rulers and ultimately to getting independence and having a country from the people, by the people as well as for the people. Yet, despite getting freedom, using a written metabolic rate based on beliefs of democracy and secularism and being led by experienced leaders just like Mahatma Gandhi, Pt. Nehru, Lal Bahadur Shastri ou al communal harmony in the country is on a decline. Issue- based governmental policies has given way in favor of vote – bank governmental policies based on slim interests and goals of political celebrations.

In order to achieve these goals they’ve recently been resorting to picking up social triggers on communal lines which divides instead of binds people. The situation is indeed bad today that a small and often silly comment by a careless member of one community about the different can take the form of a significant riot – like condition leading to victimization of several hundred innocent people. Often these kinds of remarks are made deliberately and with sick – causes.

The chasm between spiritual communities is very wide that individuals are tricked easily in to believing also baseless whispers spread intentionally to trigger unrest among them. Celebrate occasions – Major religious celebrations like Diwali, Christmas, Eid, Guru Nanak’s Birthday are officially announced as a holiday in the country. The constitution says all are equivalent before the law. The Government stimulates all their citizens to indicate major spiritual festivals, regardless of their religious beliefs, caste or perhaps creed. Nevertheless how a lot of us make the effort of joyfully honoring such fests together with the members of other communities?

Very few, I think. We could divided within just on the basis of our religion. One of the most effective ways to achieve public harmony is always to jointly enjoy and be involved in each other’s religious celebrations.

Young people can show their secular spirit through their behaviour and activities and set an illustration for others to follow. Spread recognition – The majority of political celebrations have been playing the public card to win polls. They have earned elections by dividing people and by turning friends in to enemies for their own profits.

This must stop. Children can be highly effective agents of change. When they know the proper thing they cannot be suppressed into tallying with the incorrect.

Youngsters must come together, express their opinion freely and spread awareness about crucial national concerns and their accept it. They have to involve people in talking about and discussing these things of national importance and in arriving at a conclusion through consensus about what is best for the nation. And they must make sure their very own collective views are presented to the frontrunners in very clear terms.

This will not only make sure that the government usually takes decisions based on the wellbeing of its people yet also examine the politicians coming from playing the communal credit card. Be a happy Indian – Most of all young people can established example for others by exhibiting their satisfaction in their country thorough confident and healthier dialogues, accountable behavior and caring attitude towards everyone. “Be the change you would like to see” -Mahatma Gandh
