There were a number of theories which i found interesting as a part of the course, the theory that I connected with most personally was Symbolic Interaction. This theory was established 1st by George Herbert Mead, who gave the key phrase “symbolic interactionism” first. The idea has been within the discipline of sociology for several years, and after the death of Mead, various other sociologists had taken on the theory in their very own works, studies, and ideas. This theory is certainly one of my favorites for a couple of reasons, one among which is since I believe I have seen that at work during my own your life and in the interactions more in their lives.
I as well agree with the validity of this theory because I feel that it coincides with other theories in other fields, including psychology. There are psychologists, such as Freudian psychologists and Lacanian psychologists which have theories which can be similar or perhaps analogous towards the sociological theory of emblematic interaction. The similarities I realize with this sort of theories in psychology will be those that dispute about language, behavior as well as the unconscious. Everything we declare and do is usually an expression in the unconscious, mainly without our conscious knowledge. Every word we speak and every actions we take is definitely dense with meanings, such as ones all of us intend and those we do not want or which we are not aware. Furthermore, these types of theories deal that our words and phrases and activities are fundamental representations of the identities.
Symbolic interactionism provides several points of overlap to theories in other fields, insofar as anything about us – words, activities, behaviors, environment, etc . – is an expression of how we all define yourself and how we define themselves in relation to others. All of these factors contribute directly to how we define and execute our identities, which is something we are performing constantly. We have the power to create our identities through exterior measures and we cultivate meaning of ourself and of our worlds relating to emblematic interactionism. This is certainly a theory with which I am able to strongly agree with and feel connected to.
We additionally such as the theory of symbolic interactionism because the theory is predicated upon cultural interaction with others. It is additionally a theory that posits that people do not directly connect to reality, nevertheless that reality is mediated through social definitions, social contexts, and cultural interactions, that is certainly what people are reacting and interacting with. The theory proposes that we now have multiple facts with which individuals exist within just: physical reality, social actuality, and the truth that is exclusive to that person because of specific personal history and perception. The fact that we interact with or can be found in multiple realities is also interesting to me as I are interested in fields such as segment physics/mechanics, through which there is a theory that every decision, outcome, or reality which could exist, truly does exist, in a parallel fact to the one we take up now. Thus, for me, emblematic interactionist theory is a theory that I locate very intriguing in of by itself, and at the same time, We find it interesting that this theory that is a a part of sociology even offers similarities in other fields, some of which people would think will be unrelated, based on some of the basics of cultural interaction.
I believe symbolic interactionist theory would be a strong theory to look into terms of people who are isolated from culture, living in marginalized situations or perhaps circumstances. These folks would, in extreme instances, be quite unable to function and integrate well back into society since they do not have interaction socially with others. Such persons might have
