Cinematography Essays

Several years ago, I saw the documentary movie “Babies” (Bebes), released in 2010 by simply French representative and manufacturer Thomas Balmes. At that time I think it is a wonderful, cute video about very little kids and their everyday life program, but now I am aware that is in addition to that. It is about cultures and differences. It truly is about realizing that there is not proper and incorrect when we discuss cultures and about accepting persons from other civilizations as “normal” (here, My spouse and i used normal because oftentimes we understand something that our company is used with, that we grew up with as normal).

However, let me expose you the history of this motion picture, so that you know very well what we are referring to. First I must say that from this documentary is only natural sound, no voice over, which for was really interesting. Nobody explains you the incidents, nobody shows you something, just look and understand the meaning. Or the emails. It is a documentary that has an open ending, will give you space to personally relay on the events and learn from their website. Personally I actually watched that twice and i also got distinct messages each time.

I think I’ll watch that again more than several years. The film employs the story of 4 individuals in their first year of life. These kinds of little kids are not frequently picked, however they have something in common: they live faraway from each other, in different parts of the world, in several economical areas and different cultures. Ponijao coming from Opuwo, Namibia. A little woman that has 8-10 brothers and sisters. Her family is a part of Himba group and they are in a village. Mari by Tokyo, Asia.

She is the only child of two loving parents that reside in Shibuya, a crowded, metropolitan place. Bayar coming from Byanchandmani, Mongolia. He lives with his mom, father and older brother in their farmville farm. Hattie by San Francisco, A bunch of states lives with her parents and she has a “green” lifestyle. After introducing to you the main character types, you can previously visualize the way the story look. But I have to say that the movie is enchanting and I probably would not like to be aware that I spoiled it for yourself.

The reason for providing you details about their very own lifestyle, family and location is an easy one: to know the differences involving the cultures that they were born in. At this point let me offer you some detailed details via my experience watching twice this documentary. While watching it for the first time Need to confess that we felt my apologies for the kids that “were not so lucky to live in a city, to have a wealthy family, to acquire activities since day 10 of lifestyle, and so on.

I thought that Hattie and Mari have a typical lifestyle while Ponijao and Bayar appeared to me two kids that did not have a similar chances. I said that a pair of them have got a normal lifestyle. Normal, judging from my point of view, during those times. And normal because I actually related these kids to my opinion and my own lifestyle and my culture and society and at a lot of points they will matched. I saw Ponijao and Bayar throughout the eyes in the society and culture i live in. And they seemed to me so far apart in time and space. Once i watched “Babies” for the second time I knew something improved.

I could begin to see the details. I can see the pleasure of every kid in this video no matter where he was living. They each grew older regardless of the place, they each played and had fun, each of them ate very well and gain weight. So I asked myself, so why to have a pity party that they terribly lack the same traditions and the same lifestyle while me? They are so very happy the way they happen to be and I will need to respect that. This is the lessons that these 4 babies thought me about culture. We ought to not evaluate before all of us truly understand.
